About Catherine:
Hi, I’m Catherine. I know that seeking support can feel like a big step, and my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and empowered. Whether you’re navigating loss, relationship struggles, life transitions, or emotional challenges, I’m here to help you explore what’s beneath the surface and move toward healing and growth.
As a counsellor, I draw on various skills, training, and experiences I have obtained throughout my 20+ year career. My approach is rooted in understanding the deeper patterns that shape our emotions, relationships, and ways of being. I’m passionate about helping clients make sense of their experiences and develop tools for meaningful change.
In couples work, I primarily use Imago Therapy to support stronger connections, improved communication, and a deeper sense of understanding between partners. I provide a balanced perspective, helping each partner feel heard and validated. Over time, you will develop stronger communication skills, deeper emotional bonds, and a renewed sense of partnership through open discussions, guided communication exercises, and practical tools for resolving conflicts. Vulnerability is encouraged, allowing you to express feelings in ways that feel safe and supported.
Practice Focus:
I support couples and individuals in navigating:
- Grief and Loss – Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a relationship, or a vision of the future, I help clients process and find a way forward.
- Relationships – Strengthening communication, resolving conflict, and fostering deeper connections
- Life transitions – Adjusting to major life changes, caregiving responsibilities, or shifts in identity.
- Trauma and Emotional Healing – Understanding past experiences and their impact on the present.
- Family dynamics – Navigating conflict, boundaries, and challenges.
- Anxiety and Depression – Developing coping strategies to manage overwhelming emotions.
Therapeutic modalities:
I tailor therapy to each client’s needs, drawing from:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Helping clients understand and modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.
- Imago Therapy for Couples – Facilitating deeper connection and communication in relationships.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy – Helping clients explore and harmonize different parts of themselves to achieve healing
- Anti-Oppressive & Trauma-Informed Practices – Ensuring inclusivity and sensitivity to each client’s lived experiences.
- Strengths-Based, Task-Centred, and Solution-Focused Practices – Empowering clients to build on their capabilities and achieve concrete goals.
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) & Mindfulness Practices – Encouraging emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and present-moment awareness.
- Person-Centred Approach – Providing a warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment that is 2SLGBTQ+-inclusive
- Narrative Social Work – Supporting clients in reshaping their personal stories.
