Heather Young
About Heather:
Heather Young is a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree and over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families across community-based and hospital settings. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to helping parents navigate the emotional landscape of parenthood with compassion, clarity, and confidence.
Her work is grounded in the belief that when parents are supported in understanding their own internal worlds—their histories, needs, values, and tender places—they can more authentically connect with their children. A central focus of her approach involves guiding parents through the process of re-parenting, helping them heal old wounds, integrate new insights, and cultivate the inner resources necessary to show up with greater presence for themselves and their families.
She holds a Perinatal Mental Health Certification, is a trained Child Sleep Consultant and has completed extensive training in a range of evidence-informed therapeutic modalities, including Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, attachment theory, self-compassion, mindfulness-based practices, and polyvagal theory. Warmth, attunement, and collaboration are the cornerstones of her practice. She is committed to creating a space where parents feel supported, genuinely seen, and empowered throughout their parenting journey.
Practice Focus:
She works with parents who are seeking more than just parenting strategies—they are also looking for a place to explore themselves. Her approach invites clients to look beneath the surface to understand the internal experiences that shape their parenting: the stories they carry, the patterns that repeat, the parts of them that feel overwhelmed, and the strengths that may be waiting to be rediscovered.
Whether parents are navigating early parenthood, feeling stuck in familiar cycles, or striving to show up with greater patience, presence, and confidence, her work focuses on helping them reconnect with their inner resources. Through a blend of therapeutic modalities, she supports clients in exploring their re-parenting journey, strengthening their emotional foundation, and aligning their parenting with their core values.
Her goal is to help parents feel more grounded and connected—to themselves, and ultimately, to their children.
