Kendra Hollidge

M.S.W., R.S.W.
(Pronouns – She & Her)

As a therapist it is my goal to provide support, compassion and guidance to children and adults who are facing life’s many challenges, and it is my privilege to walk alongside them on their journey of change. I believe in the ability and strength of the human spirit to heal and grow and am passionate about assisting others in this transformation. I pride myself in treating clients as experts of their own experiences and invite them to look at new perspectives and opportunities for growth. I am a graduate of the Masters of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University and received an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. I have additional expertise and training in the area of child and play therapy, as well as real-life experience through my own journey of motherhood. I was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo and it is important to me to give back to the community that has shaped me. With over a decade of experience, I have worked as a counsellor in various agencies within this community, specializing in issues related to the well-being of women, children, and families. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and committed to ongoing training in my field.

Practice Focus:

I have a wide range of experience and training supporting people facing a variety of life challenges including loss, trauma, parenting struggles, domestic violence and attachment difficulties. I also welcome clients in the LGBTQIA2S+ community. In addition to supporting adults, I also specialize in working with children and can provide support in the areas of separation and divorce, trauma, anxiety and depression, grief, self-esteem, and learning to regulate and cope with emotions. I believe in giving children a safe space to work through struggles that are impacting their lives and use play therapy techniques as a vehicle in helping children to express their inner conflicts. In addition, I work to provide clients with tools to cope with life’s challenges and I believe in structuring sessions to meet the specific needs of the client. It is of the utmost importance that there is trust and safety within our therapy sessions and that we work collaboratively towards change.

Therapeutic modalities:

My work is rooted in feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks and I am committed to work that abolishes all forms of oppression. I am passionate about social justice and issues of inequality and stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and a proud ally of the LGTBQ+ community.  I currently hold the position of Director of Mental Health Advocacy on the board of directors of the Trauma Embodiment Association of Ontario, an organization committed to dismantling the systems of oppression that exist in the field of mental health services.

Education has been a life-long passion of mine and I am currently involved in teaching at Wilfred Laurier University in the Master of Social Work program. I also provide clinical supervision to fellow therapists/social workers seeking support in their personal and professional lives.
